Come to First Wednesday breakfast book study at 8-9 am at Weck’s restaurant on Rte. 528 (1620 Pat D’Arco off Barbara Loop) and join Rector Jennifer for a conversation about Marcus Borg’s Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time (SanFrancisco: Harper Collins, 1995. ISBN 0-06-060917-6 available on Amazon.com and likely elsewhere for as little as $1.35 and available for ereaders. (Have breakfast or just coffee – we buy for ourselves.) It’s only 135 pages long, but a lively read of recent Jesus scholarship and Borg’s own struggle for authentic, mature faith.

Hello Brothers!

This is just to remind you that we will have our monthly meeting this coming Saturday, March 17, as usual at 8:00 am in the Parish Hall. I hope you will be able to join us.

Thanks to all who participated in the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. It was very successful -- we served more than 80 persons, a very good turnout. The congregation really appreciates that event.

We had hoped to be able to have a Grand Meeting with BOSA chapters from other churches at the end of this month. We even invited the Bishop to speak, but unfortunately it is not a good time for some of the other groups, so we will have to postpone that Grand Meeting until a later date.

On Saturday perhaps we can discuss a fund-raising event for the Spring. Last year we had a chili cook-off that raised money for camp scholarships to Camp Stoney. Other years the Spring event has allowed us to put up a basketball hoop and contribute to other worthwhile causes.

Our breakfast on Saturday will be potluck, as usual, and since it is our turn to furnish goodies for the hospitality hour after services on Sunday, leftovers from our breakfast will be welcome.

I hope to see you Saturday morning.

In Christian brotherhood,
Paul Isaacson
BOSA President

Ladies of the Diocese-you are invited to a Lenten retreat at the Cathedral of St. John on Saturday, March 17. The Very Rev. Mark Goodman, dean of the Cathedral will be our speaker on the topic of Prayer in the Liturgy. Sometimes our liturgy becomes rote recitation. Dean Goodman will explain how the prayers of the liturgy can deepen our worship as women of prayer. The day starts with fellowship at 8:30 and will end with Eucharist after lunch. There will be time for quiet reflection during the day with such things as walking the labyrinth, creating with art supplies, or just sitting quietly in the Nave. Lunch will be provided by the St. Agnes Chapter of the Daughters of the King.
A $15/person donation is suggested to offset food and other expenses. (Child care can be provided if requested.)
