Another event to add to our list of activities for St. Francis this May is the Saturday Foodies. This month Freda and Bruce McKeown have offered to take care of the arrangements and have planned to meet at Viet Rice in Rio Rancho. This is located on the south end of the Smith's shopping center on 528. The date is Saturday May 26\, at 11\:30. Most likely there will be a sign up sheet on the table in the Narthex so Freda can let the restaurant know how many to expect. In an environment of beauty and peace\, we will share a weekend of Centering Prayer\, Lectio Divina\, time for solitude\, journaling and contemplative awareness.
The Sangre de Cristo Center is located about 12 miles north of Santa Fe\, in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains\, adjacent to the Santa Fe National Forest. The beautiful grounds offer a lovely setting for solitude\, reflection and prayer.
All rooms are private with a sink in the room.
This retreat will be staffed by Therese O'Grady\, OSB\, a monastic from Contemplative Outreach of Colorado Springs and Susan Rush\, Contemplative Outreach of New Mexico.
The price of the retreat is $165~this covers retreat stipend\, a private room and all meals for the weekend\, beginning with Friday supper through Sunday breakfast. He has scheduled our official visitation Sunday\, June 17th\, so that will be an opportunity for Holy Baptism\, Confirmation\, and Reception into the Episcopal Church or for anyone who has been away from church or faith for awhile\, a public Reaffirmation of Baptismal Promises. (Speak to the Rector\, if so.)
He will meet with the vestry that morning and we will have one service at 9am\, since it is fitting that when our bishop comes we all gather as one to welcome and hear him. And there will be a festive coffee hour\, too. We are blessed to see Bishop Michael at St. Francis twice within 12 months!
Anyone desiring to be Confirmed or Received into the Episcopal Church\, or to be or have a child baptized when our Bishop Michael next visits\, Sunday June 17 (at the single service that day at 9 am)\, please speak to Rev. Jennifer as soon as possible. A preparation class will begin after Easter.
